Cost of Living Relief

Immediate Action for Australian Families

One Nation's Plan to Tackle Australia's Cost-of-Living Crisis

One Nation is committed to delivering immediate, practical relief to Australian households and
businesses. Our cost-of-living plan targets the biggest pressures facing families today-energy, fuel,
tax burdens, and healthcare-while strengthening long-term economic stability.

Lower Electricity Bills

  • Reform National Electricity Market (NEM) rules to prioritise affordable, reliable baseload power
    from coal and gas.
  • Support the transition to nuclear energy as a medium-term solution for stable, low-cost supply.
  • Target an immediate 20% reduction in electricity bills for households and businesses.

Fuel Price Relief

  • Cut the fuel excise in half to 26 cents per litre for three years.
  • Conduct a 12-month review with the option to extend the reduction.
  • Lower fuel costs will reduce freight expenses, helping bring down the price of groceries, goods,
    and essential services.

Tax Relief for Households and Retirees

  • Allow aged and veteran pensioners to earn more without losing benefits.
  • Introduce income splitting and joint tax returns for couples with dependent children.
  • Lift the tax-free threshold to 35,000 for self-funded retirees to ease financial pressure on older
    Australians.

Dump the Beer Tax

Remove excise on beer and spirits sold in venues to support hospitality businesses and reduce
costs for consumers.

Reduce Healthcare Costs

  • Increase the Medicare rebate to ensure GPs are properly supported and bulk billing becomes
    viable again.
  • Crack down on Medicare fraud – estimated to cost taxpayers up to 3 billion annually – to protect the
integrity of the system and redirect funds to genuine patient care.

Backbone

These measures form the backbone of One Nation’s commitment to easing the cost-of-living
burden. They provide immediate relief while addressing structural inefficiencies that have driven
prices higher for years. More initiatives will be added as part of our ongoing effort to restore
affordability and economic security for all Australians.
